Wisconsin Supplier Uses Branded Program Funds to Grow Exports

Fiberstar Inc, located in River Falls, Wisconsin, in the 7th Congressional District, has participated in Food Export – Midwest’s Branded Program, a 50% cost reimbursement program funded by the Market Access Program (MAP), since 2005.

In 2017 they used their funding to promote their Citri-Fi product line at international shows, focusing primarily on the European and Asian markets. As a result they gained actual sales in Germany, Mexico, and Thailand of a combined $155,000 with projected sales of $530,000!  As well as gaining 100 new foreign buyer contacts in those 3 markets.

Fiberstar, Inc is a privately held innovative biotechnology company focused on enhancing food performance by manufacturing and marketing value-added food ingredients.  Its largest brand, Citri-Fi is an all-natural highly functional fiber produced sustainably from citrus cell wall material using a patented process. Citri-Fi is GRAS, non-allergenic, neutral in taste & odor and non-GMO. Fiberstar sells products globally in over 65 countries.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
