Branded Program Continues to Assist Export Growth of Connecticut Supplier

by Food Export | Sep 11, 2018
The Orange Cheese Company began working with Food Export in 2014 taking part of the Market Access Program (MAP) funded Branded Program and attending Focused Trade Missions to China and Hong Kong. Since participating in the Food Export programs, they have made their first export sale and have had continued success with their exports into the various regions of China.

Most recently in 2017, Orange Cheese utilized the Branded Program to expand their export sales to China due to the market’s fast growing demand for dairy products in their rapid growing middle class. Utilizing their allocated funds to attend trade shows, complete in-store sampling events, make label/package modifications and produce promotional items helped the U.S. cheese supplier gain over $1 million in actual sales to China. These sales along with gaining over 25 new foreign buyer contacts, 10 new distributor relationships helped them report a very successful utilization of funds for the year.

Founded by a passion for fine quality artisan and specialty cheese Orange Cheese Company aims to introduce the best American cheese brands and rich cheese culture to China. Orange Cheese Company is headquartered in New Heaven, Connecticut with branch offices in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, with sales representatives across China, exporting a full line of American-made artisan and specialty cheeses for retail chains, hospitality, food services, and wine industries in China and other Asian markets. Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
