Clever Growing Exports to Canada

by Food Export | Sep 18, 2018
For over 20 years, Clever Cookie has been providing unique, brightly decorated designs of delicious shortbread cookies that are Kosher certified and outstanding customer service to customers worldwide. Over the years, Clever Cookie has expanded its product offerings by adding official licensed character designs and has broadened their product categories to include Shelf Stable Cookies for Center of Store, Fresh Baked Cookies for in-store bakery, Frozen and refrigerated dough, Gourmet Brownies and Cakes.

In 2017, the Hauppauge, New York-based business utilized Food Export's Market Access Program (MAP) funded Branded Program to help expand their export sales to Canada. The company focused their export efforts on Canada because they saw trends there were mirroring those happening in the United States and both countries had similar needs. Clever Cookie was able to report sales over $80,000 last year due to contacts made at trade shows and funding and support received through Food Export.

Clever Cookies has participated in Food Export’s programs since 2014 utilizing the Online Product Catalog, the Branded Program, and attending Buyers Missions. “The buyer’s mission is an invaluable opportunity which allows us such a large reach into the export arena and to meet with so many qualified and interested leads in such a short period of time”.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
