Export Success to Canada

by Food Export | Sep 24, 2018
Utilizing funds from the Market Access Program (MAP) funded Branded Program has helped Smith & Salmon, Inc. from Burlington, Vermont expand their export business to Canada in 2017. Using their allocated funds to promote their SAP! beverage products in the market with promotional literature and in-store sampling helped increase brand awareness and grow sales.

This February, Smith & Salmon, Inc. was able to report $5,000 in new export sales and project $20,000 in sales over the next twelve months. Utilization of the MAP funding also helped the Vermont supplier gain 1 new foreign contact and 1 new agent relationship.

Smith & Salmon, Inc. is the producer of SAP! Maple Soda, a non-alcoholic beverage made from a single ingredient, 100% pure maple sap straight from the maple trees of Vermont. A healthy alternative to sugar-sweetened beverages, this product is 90 calories and has 16 grams of sugar.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
