(Pie) Shells to Spain

In late June 2018, The Run-a-Ton Group, located in Chester, New Jersey in the 7th Congressional District, attended the Specialty Food Buyers Mission at the 2018 Summer Fancy Food Show where they were introduced to a buyer from Spain. In one month (almost to the day), two pallets of frozen dessert items were purchased by the buyer and arranged to ship from the U.S. East Coast in a previously scheduled container.

According to Therese Mauch, National Sales Director, this is one of the quickest turn-around times (from buyer introduction to purchase) that they have experienced.  As a result, they are expecting to continue this business and relationship well into the 2018 holiday season.

The Run-a-Ton Group is a leading provider of natural and conventional baked goods for the Supermarket and Natural Foods Market. They have participated in Food Export’s Branded Program beginning in 2007 through 2009 and again from 2012 through the current year of 2019.


Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
