Founded in 1992 as a functional ingredient manufacturing company, RIBUS, Inc. supplies natural and organic rice ingredients to food, beverage, dietary supplement and pet companies around the world.

Based in Saint Louis, Missouri in the 2nd Congressional District, RIBUS produces rice-based ingredients, which provide solutions for conventional, natural and certified organic foods. By utilizing the entire grain (the hull and bran), they are helping to sustain the earth.

Working with Food Export - Midwest since 1998 RIBUS utilizes Food Export’s Market Access Program (MAP) funded Branded Program to help expand their export sales. Last year the Missouri supplier continued their expansion of their exports to Germany. Using their allocated funding they exhibited at two tradeshows which helped them gain market exposure and new export sales. RIBUS reported an overall sales increase of 325% into Germany from 2016-2017.  They also reported picking up a new German distributor as well during that timeframe.

Furthermore, RIBUS used Branded Program funding to offset exhibiting costs at tradeshows and brand promotion into Switzerland and Thailand.  As a result of these efforts, from 2016-2017 they reported export sales growth of 9.55% into Switzerland and 37.64% into Thailand.

According to Laurie Wittenbrink, Global Marketing Manager, RIBUS is looking forward to notable opportunities in the future thanks to the Branded Program.  In particular, they are looking ahead to the global expansion of the Clean Label Alliance ( throughout Europe. This is an initiative that recently launched in North America in which RIBUS is partnering with four other companies to offer services and support to dietary supplement producers as they transition or develop clean label products.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
