New York Snack Supplier Expands Exports to the Middle East & Europe

In 2018, Have Your Cake Kitchen dba Rule Breaker Snacks, from Brooklyn, New York traveled to the United Arab Emirates on Food Export – Northeast’s Focused Trade Mission to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait.

While attending the mission they utilized Food Export’s Branded Program services. The Branded Program is a 50% cost-share reimbursement program that helps companies make the most of their marketing budget so their promotional efforts can go further.

The utilization of the Market Access Program (MAP) helped the Brooklyn snack food company establish 7 contacts in the UAE with projected sales of $50,000. Rule Breaker Snacks is hopeful to continue their growth in the Middle East and foreign markets to increase export sales and spread the word of their allergen-free snacks internationally.  

In addition to expanding contacts in the Middle East, Rule Breaker Snacks also has had several successes in Europe. Rule Breaker Snacks had several meetings in the Netherlands facilitated by Food Export and made their first export sales to this market in 2018. Nancy Kalish, Founder & CEO, projects sales of $25,000. As a result of the Focused Trade Mission to the UK and Ireland in March 2018, the company is closing a deal to export goods to the UK and Europe with projected sales of $50,000.

Founded in 2014, and breaking all the rules, Rule Breaker Snacks provides healthy brownies and blondies made from chickpeas and black beans with no flour, eggs, or butter. They have a variety of products including Deep Chocolate Brownies, Chocolate Chunk Blondies, Birthday Cake Blondies, and P’Nutter Chocolate Chip Blondies.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
