South Korean Market Gets a Whole Lot Sweeter

by Food Export | Jan 15, 2019
In 2018, Bassetts Ice Cream, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the 1st Congressional District, participated in Food Export-Northeast’s Branded Program. They have worked closely with us for the past ten years as they expand their popular American made ice-cream and dessert product lines around the globe.

In 2018 they utilized their Branded Program funds to further expand their product reach in South Korea after previous successes in nearby China. Funds were used for a variety of services including label modifications, website and social media promotion in the market, and exhibiting at trade shows. They found great success with these strategies and reported initial sales of $600,000 in the market, 75 new foreign contacts made, 3 new agent relationships, and project for future sales of $1 Million as a result of their 2018 efforts.

They have also participated in Food Export Buyers Missions, Webinars, and our Online Product Catalog in the past.

Bassetts Ice Cream is a full-service frozen dessert distributor as well as America’s oldest ice cream company! Started in 1861, they have been in the ice cream business since President Lincoln’s first term in office and are a sixth-generation small family business.

We can’t wait to see what future Success Stories they will have in the 2019 Program Year!

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
