Focused Trade Mission Increases Sales for Illinois Supplier

In March of 2017, Belmont Foods, located in Northbrook, Illinois in the 9th Congressional District, attended Food Export - Midwest’s Focused Trade Mission to Korea for Retail and Food Service Products where they had 15 one-on-one meetings with Korean Buyers. During the mission they also attended a market briefing, trade reception and retail tour.

In March of 2018, Belmont Foods completed a sale of sweetened dried cranberries for over $200,000 to Seoul as a result of the mission. This sale also notes a first time sale to the market for the Illinois Supplier.

Belmont Foods is a producer of sweet and savory snack foods, infant formula and dried fruits for the retail sector. They have utilized Food Export programs and services since 2014 participating in Focused Trade Missions, Buyers Missions, Food Show PLUS!™ services, the Online Product Catalog and the Branded Program.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
