Frozen Cranberry Supplier Benefits from Market Builder

by Food Export | Apr 22, 2019
Cape Cod Select, founded in 2009 by Cindy Rhodes, sells premium frozen cranberries in order to give her consumers the option to eat cranberries year-round. This family run company keeps the environment in mind, appreciates their employees and always produces quality and safe cranberries.

In 2018, Cape Cod Select LLC, located in Carver, Massachusetts, in the 9th Congressional District utilized Food Export – Northeast’s Market Builder services to explore opportunities in Brazil. This helped customized their market research on their frozen cranberries.

As a result of this activity, Cape Cod Select LLC gained three new foreign buyers and established one distributorship relationship. These new relationships led to $15,000 in frozen cranberry sales. They also project to make $30,000 sales in the next twelve months.

The Market Scan included in the Market Builder package provided a targeted list of importers and a snapshot of competing products in the market. This gave an analysis of the regulations and restrictions which can affect a company’s imported goods. Cindy Rhodes comments that, “This market research and the Food Export team were very helpful and informative. It helped me to understand how to enter this complicated market.”

Cape Cod Select
has participated in Food Export programs since 2010 utilized the Market Access Program (MAP) funded Branded Program, attending webinars, Buyers Missions, and Focused Trade Missions.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
