New York Pet Food Supplier Finds Export Success in Three International Markets

by Food Export | Feb 27, 2020
In 2019, Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals, located in New York, New York, in the 12th Congressional District, participated in Food Export - Northeast’s Branded Program for the seventh year in a row.

This year they utilized the program’s 50% reimbursement to enhance their ongoing international marketing efforts in Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Grandma Mae’s has seen tremendous growth in export sales due to utilizing Food Export - Northeast's Branded Program over the past 7 years. In 2019 they used their funding in a variety of ways including exhibiting at international trade shows, in-store sampling, digital and print advertisements, literature, giveaway items and more.

As a result of utilizing their funding in these 3 strategic international markets they have reported 195 new foreign contacts made, $1,000,000 in new export sales, and $1,450,000 in projected export sales over the next 12 months.

They also used their Branded Program funds to help offset the cost of exhibiting at the annual Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Florida, the pet industry’s largest annual trade show that brings together suppliers, buyers, and industry professionals from around the world to showcase the latest and greatest pet products. Their efforts at this show resulted in an additional $350,000 in new export sales and $450,000 in projected export sales.

Grandma Mae's Country Naturals is a producer of cat and dog food in the pet food industry. Established in 2007 by a group of independent pet store owners, Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals uses the highest-quality ingredients and processing to ensure there are no artificial flavors or preservatives in their products as well as the elimination of any corn, soy, wheat, gluten, dairy, and antibiotics.  Grandma Mae’s is still owned by independent pet retailers who care about your pets as much as you do.

Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
